The filters themselves are colored, but they are mainly used to achieve expressive black and white contrasts. For example, you can add brilliance to clouds. These filters open a wide range of possibilities, especially for experimental photography and playing with contrasts.

The not-so-strong infrared filter does not block the complete visible light spectrum and enables recording with visible and invisible IR components. The black and white contrasts are not as high.
